Short update
On Tuesday I finally mailed out my paperwork to the Consular Center in Kentucky. Before that I had to take some pictures. All in all I need 7. 2 for last weeks papers, 3 for the checkup and 2 for my appointment at the consulate in Frankfurt. Those pictures must not be older than 6 months, so I only got 2 for now, since I don’t have my interview appointment yet. It is those pretty frontal mug shots, that you can’t use for anything else. The difference to the regular biometrical photos: you are allowed to smile a little, the pictures are 5 x 5 cm (US standard) and to make matters worse, you have to take off all earrings. So I had a lot of fun with the 7 I am wearing.
Completing the forms took me a little longer than expected. If you have any problems filling them out, the info material that “The American Dream” sends out together with the winning notification, helps. I found it a little difficult though, to translate the terms for my profession and the jobs I had. Also you should have an idea what you are going to do for a living, when you are “over there” and you need an US mailing address as well. If you don’t know anyone in the States, you can use the address of “The American Dream” (in NY I believe) for a small fee.
I sent out the letter via registered mail and now I gotta save some money. Unfortunately the appointment at the consulate is not for free. ;) I’m not going to state any prices here because it changes every few months.
Excited about what is going to happen next!
